Courtney Buck — BUGS President
My name is Courtney Buck and I will be your BUGS President for the 2018-2019 school year! I have been a member for about three years and last year I was co-treasurer, so I am knowledgeable about the ins and outs of BUGS. Additionally, our BUGS members have been like a family to me ever since I joined and I hope to continue that trend with all our new and returning members!
A little about myself: I am a Senior majoring in Biology following the Pre-Med track with a goal to go on to Medical School. I am striving to become a physician specializing in Infectious Disease! When I am not studying I am either playing (video)games with friends, skiing, working, or doodling on a sketchpad.
I am really excited to implement a lot I have brainstormed with some of the other officers to make this year fun and exciting for all of us!
I cannot wait to meet, collaborate, and have a blast with you all!
Audrey Haesen — BUGS Co-Vice President
Hello, everyone! My name is Audrey Haesen and I’m very excited to be, yet again, your Co-Vice President for the 2018-2019 year. Besides from the fact that I am currently on the pre-med track, I am a junior pursuing a BS in biology with a minor in chemistry. I love traveling, reading, hiking, practicing calligraphy, and bullet journaling. Also, I’m originally from Belgium and can speak fluent French. If you are open to new experiences and developing new friendships, then this organization is perfect for you! I hope to contribute my leadership, positive attitude and teamwork skills to BUGS. If you have any questions or ideas that could benefit our society, don’t hesitate to reach myself or any of the other officers. I can’t wait to meet all of you!
Melissa Frank — BUGS Co-Vice President
My name is Melissa Frank and I am your BUGS Co-Vice President for this year! I have been a part of this club for 3 years now and now that I’m a senior, I am excited to take this step up from Secretary to Vice President!
I am currently double majoring in biochemistry and biology, with a minor in psychology. I plan on going to graduate school and pursuing a career in the neuroscience field.
I’m excited to meet new people and have a great year! Lets make it great!
Madeline Jeshurin — BUGS Communication Director
My name is Madeline but you can call me Maddie and I’m your Communication Director this year! This will be my fourth year in BUGS and I’m a senior double majoring in Biology and Anthropology. I’m originally from California but after graduation I plan on moving east to pursue a Ph.D in genetics. I love traveling, working out, reading, and watching movies. This club isn’t just for biology majors, but for anyone who likes to volunteer or just make friends.
The other officers and myself are here to make this club as great as it can be, but we are also here to help all of you! I can’t wait to meet you all and to have an awesome year!
Hey guys my name is Victoria and I am a senior at UNM studying Population Health with a minor in psychology. I’m the secretary for BUGS this year. This will be my first year as an officer and second year participating in the club. I am interested in public health mostly relating to women’s health, and biology has always been a passion of mine. I am not sure if I will continue on with my masters or search for a job following my graduation in the spring.
